What is Social Media?

"Social" refers to interacting with other people by sharing and receiving information to and from them. "Media" refers to an instrument of communication, like the internet.

Social media is internet or cellular phone based applications and tools used to share information among others. Blogging, forums, and any aspect of an interactive presencewhich allows individuals the ability to engage in conversations with one another. Social media is a huge part of our everyday lives. In America, we check social media 17 times a day. In other countries, it is checked at least 40 times a day.
