What is DECA?

DECA boiled down is a business club. It teaches students far more than basic business concepts though. DECA teaches the people skills needed in everyday life that school does not teach. DECA teaches everyting from a proper handshake to conveyingand presenting your thoughts and ideas effectively. Aside from teaching business knowledge and skills, DECA is also an opportunity for many. It is an opportunity to travel, network, and lead. Our Post Falls DECA chapter was created by students, for students. Unlike other clubs, DECA is 100% run by students like you. DECA is an opportunity for you to write your own future. To learn more go to here.

What is a DECA competition?

DECA competitons have two parts to them. They have a test and a roleplay. Depending on your category you choose (the four categories are: Marketing, Hospitality, Business Managment and Administration, and Finance) you will be tested on it. The second part of the competition is the roleplay. The roleplay works like this. You are given a certain amount of indicators (usually five) that you must incorporate into your presentation to your judge. You will be given a certain amount of time to prepare for your roleplay (usually ten minutes) and a certain amount of time to present your roleplay (usually at most ten minutes).

Testimonials

My name is Jacob and I am currently the most amazing vice president DECA has ever had. DECA has impacted me so much over the course of the last year. It has completly rewritten my vision of the future and has taught me to take control of my life. Joining DECA has quite possibly been the best decision of my life. It has given me the privalge to travel, learn, gain social skills, and most importantly, own my future. With the guidance of Ryan Cockerill, another extremly skilled DECA member, I placed 1st in the state of Idaho as a freshman and went on to go to Anaheim, California for ICDC (DECA Internationals). DECA has shaped and built who I am. I built relationships with many people and I have gained many friends that I never would have known beforehand, it is full of amazing people and I would not give it up for anything.
